The motion, signed by senior members of the Republican Peoples Party (CHP), claims Erdogan used his influence to ensure the ATV-Sabah media group was sold to Turkuvaz Radyo Televizyon, a part of the Calik Group of companies, and that the $1.1 billion deal had been financed by loans provided by state banks.
Immediately after the sale, Turkuvas announced it had sold 25 percent of its shares to Al Wasaeel International Media, an arm of the Qatar Investment Authority.
ATV-Sabah was sold off by the state after its assets were seized due to a failure of its previous owners to pay debts owed.
