Turkish planes strike targets in northern Iraq

ANKARA - As many as 30 Turkish aircraft struck at targets deep inside northern Iraq late Thursday night, hitting at bases of the terrorist group the PKK.

The focus of the air strike as Qandil Mountain and the surrounding region, known to be one of the central bases of the PKK.

Iraqi officials have confirmed the air raids, though there has been no official confirmation from the Turkish General Staff.

No casualty figures or details of damage have been made public.
