President Guls office announced the head of state would meet separately with Deniz Baykal, the chairman of the Republican Peoples Party (CHP), and the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Devlet Bahceli on Thursday.
Tensions increased on March 14, when a senior prosecutor filed an indictment with the Constitutional Court seeking to have the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) closed on the grounds it was undermining secularism in Turkey.
Prior to this, the AKP, with the support of the MHP passed amendments to the constitution easing the ban on women wearing the Islamic headscarf while attending university.
