On Monday, Labor and Social Security Minister Faruk Celik said an agreement had been reached with representatives of employers groups and unions over the number of days a person would have to work before being able to retire.
This figure was 7,200 days, Cekik said. The government had proposed that a worker would have had to be employed for up to 9000 days before being eligible to retire with a pension. However, unions vowed to stage a series of strikes if this change to the existing social security laws was implemented.
While agreement had been reached on the number of days that had to be worked, there had been no agreement on the actual retirement age, the Minister said.
No new steps could be taken regarding the raising of the age of retirement to 65 and concerning the evaluation of 30 percent of the updating co-efficient during the calculation of retirement pensions, Celik said.
