In a written statement issued in Istanbul, the Turkish Industrialists and Businessmens Association (TUSIAD) said that non-political interventions to political scene prevent Turkey being seen as a country which is governed with universal democracy rules, while opportunities to place advanced democratic standards are missed.
Both the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the opposition Republican Peoples Party (CHP) should act calmly and with common sense, the statement said.
The government should pursue an agenda focused on the welfare and peace of the nation and stick to the principles of rule of law as well as the separation of powers, TUSIAD said, while the CHP should table political alternatives that could translate into the solution of nations the problems.
There is no way that we, as TUSIAD, can stay silent as long as we live, the statement said.
The ongoing political instability could be reduced if national solidarity was promoted and democracy for and unconditional respect for the law was observed, it said.
