Cold snap to hit Turkey

Strong winds and rain will hit the Aegean and Marmara regions, with the effects of the cold front predicted to last until late in the week.

ANKARA - Temperatures across Turkey will fall by between six and eight degrees from Tuesday onwards, with heavy rains and strong winds predicted for many regions.

The Turkish Meteorology Affairs Directorate General issued a general warning for worsening weather conditions on Monday, with the statement saying the cold front would be entering the country from the west.

The drop in temperatures will be accompanied by strong south west winds in the northern and western regions for most of the week with rain predicted for many provinces, especially those in the Marmara and Aegean regions.
