IMF to conclude negotiations with Turkey by May

Ankara’s stand by agreement with the IMF is due to expire on May 10.

WASHINGTON - The International Monetary Fund and Turkey will continue their negotiations to complete the current stand-by agreement before May 10.

Following a meeting between Turkish State Minister Mehmet Simsek and the IMF’s Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn in Washington on Thursday, the fund issued a statement saying all talks on the stand by agreement would be finished before the deal expired on May 10.

During his meeting with Kahn, Simsek provided a briefing on recent economic developments in Turkey and the outlook of the Turkish economy.
