Hasan Gerceker, the chief judge of the Supreme Court of Appeals, said Monday that the Chief Public Prosecutor had filed a lawsuit at his own initiative for the closure of the AKP under the authority, duty and responsibility given to him by the laws and the Constitution.
The Constitutional Court was authorised to say the final word on the issue, Gerceker said in a statement issued to the media.
Every individual and institution had the right to make criticism, provided that they dont violate the law or insult others, he said.
People should not force the boundaries of criticism, Gerceker said.
It was the duty of the press and the media to inform the society without violating legal or ethical boundaries and the media should take the necessary care when reporting on the case, he said.
