Joost Lagendijk, the co-chairman of the Turkey-EU Joint Parliamentary Commission, said the DTP should categorically declare that it does not approve strategies and attacks of the PKK.
The PKK should also lay down arms without setting any pre-conditions, Lagendijk told a conference on the European Union, Turks and Kurds at the European Parliament, in Brussels.
The EU is wiling to give the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) government time to implement the reforms needed for Turkey to meet the blocs entry criteria, but it will not accept any excuses about the amendment of article 301 and the adoption of law on foundations, he said.
The Turkish government should pursue social and economic reforms including basic changes regarding minority rights in the proposed new constitution, said Lagendijk.
