ISTANBUL - One person has been killed and three injured when a mooring rope snapped on a Turkish ferry Monday.

The ferry Ankara had just moored at the terminal at Sarayburnu in Istanbul when the incident occurred.

A 30 year old security guard on the ferry, identified as Zekeriye Timur, was killed. One of the three persons injured in the accident has been listed as being in a critical condition.

The Ankara, owned by the Deniz Cruise and Ferry Line, operates on the Bodrum-Istanbul route.
