Media reports alleged that USA was to hit PKK

WASHINGTON - Some influential sources in Washington have claimed that the leaking of reports that the US would stage a military operation in northern Iraq against terrorist PKK was intended to prevent the operation being carried out.

Sources added that, after the leaking of the plans, the chances of carrying such military action had been reduced.

Some suggest the leak could have been made by some congressmen close to the Iraqi Kurds.

The plan to hold secret operations with Turkey in northern Iraq was not officially confirmed.
