GENEVA - Northern Iraq has become a region that exports terrorism into Turkey, the leader of Turkey’s opposition Republican People’s party (CHP) said Thursday night.

Speaking at a dinner for delegates attending a Socialist International meeting in Geneva, Deniz Baykal said that terrorist organisations jeopardised security in both Iraq and Turkey.

Several terrorist organisations including the PKK were sheltered in the north of Iraq, a sign that some leaders in the region were trying to legitimatise terrorism, he said.
