It will be Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul’s fourth official visit to a Middle Eastern country in the past week, having already held talks in Lebanon, Israel and Palestine.

One of the main issues discussed in these talks has been the proposal that Turkey contribute troops to an international peacekeeping force being deployed in Lebanon.

Gul is scheduled to hold talks on Tuesday with Syrian President Bashar al Assad and his Syrian counterpart Walid Al Mouallim.
