The commander of Turkeys Land Forces is in Washington for talks with senior US military officials.

WASHINGTON - The Turkish Land Force Commander will end his US visit on December 17.
General Yasar Buyukanit arrived in Washington late Tuesday after having a series of meetings in New York. On his arrival he was welcomed by a military ceremony at Fort Myers military base. During the ceremony General Buyukanit was presented a medal of merit for his contribution to the co-operation and understanding between the Turkish and US Armed Forces.
The Land Forces commander is scheduled to hold official meetings at the Pentagon and to hold talks with Chief of US General Staff General Peter Pace, Army Commander Francis Harvey and Deputy Defence Secretary Eric Edelman on Wednesday.
General Buyukanit is also expected to give a speech at the American Enterprise Institute.
