Prime Minister al-Jaafari arrived in Ankara late Thursday evening on what is his first overseas trip since taking office last month. He is being accompanied by Iraqi’s ministers for finance, oil, water, electricity and industry.
Ahead of his arrival, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Namik Tan said that the Iraqi Prime Minister would be discussing economic and security issues, and the boosting of co-operation between the two countries.
al-Jaafari is expected to hold talks with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President Ahmet Necdet Sezer while the ministers accompanying him are to meet their Turkish opposite numbers.
