While in Brussels, Zana will also be presented with the European Union’s Sakharov Prize for human rights, originally awarded to her in 1995.
In 1994, Zana and three other members of the Democratic Party (DEP), Hatip Dicle, Orhan Dogan and Selim Sadak, had their parliamentary immunity lifted and were charged and later convicted of supporting separatism. All four former parliamentary deputies were released in June this year.
The Turkish government issued the four with passports on Thursday.
