| | | During the dig at the site this summer, more than 270 items were recovered, said Hamdi Biçer, the director of the Kayseri Museum, including letters written on tablets and mud envelopes. Biçer said that these were shedding light and forming a bridge with the past to our current day.
The contents of the 4000 year old letters were not much different than those of our days, talking about the economy, inheritance, love and complaints, he said.
The cuneiform written mud tablets were placed in small mud envelopes after it was dried, he said.
Biçer said that this form of correspondence was conducted between Anatolia and Mesopotamia and stressed that the envelopes indicated the importance attributed to privacy back in those days.
